  New Vehicle Licensing

New Vehicle Licensing

Traffic Law Number(9) for the year 1979, stated that no vehicle will be allowed to be driven on the roads of the Kingdom of Bahrain before it is registered at the General Directorate of Traffic and the necessary vehicle’s inspection and ownership certificate and the registration number plates are issued .And as a result the vehicles licensing division was established at the GDT. to carry out all the necessary procedures for vehicles’ registration and licensing in the following details :

New Vehicle Licensing:
The necessary documents are submitted to the vehicle licensing clerk to carry out the registration procedure, and these documents are:

1. The vehicle's inspection and registration Form after it has been approved by the Vehicle inspection division.
2. Insurance certificate covering at least third party and valid for one full year starting from the month of vehicle registration.
3. Presenting the valid CPR. identity card of the owner, incase the vehicle is owned by a company or an establishment then a copy from the commercial registration license.
4. Paying the necessary vehicle registration and number plates issuing fees.

After the vehicle is registered , the vehicle registration certificate is issued (which must be displayed on the right hand side of the front windscreen of the vehicle), the ownership and inspection certificate is issued, in addition to that the owner is issued with a receipt which may be taken to the approved number plate's manufacturer to collect the vehicle's number plates.

The necessary documents are submitted to the vehicle licensing clerk to carry out the registration procedure, and these documents are:

1. The vehicle's inspection and registration Form after it has been approved by the Vehicle inspection division.
2. Insurance certificate covering at least third party and valid for one full year starting from the month of vehicle registration.
3.Presenting the valid CPR. identity card of the owner, incase the vehicle is owned by a company or an establishment then a copy from the commercial registration license.
4.The Certificate of origin of the vehicle, the ownership certificate (if the vehicle is a second hand ) , and the vehicle's export number plates.
5. A customs Declaration letter.
6. Paying the necessary vehicle registration and number plates issuing fees.

After the vehicle is registered , the vehicle registration certificate is issued (which must be displayed on the right hand side of the front windscreen of the vehicle), the ownership and inspection certificate, in addition to that the owner is issued with a receipt which may be taken to the approved number plate's manufacturer to collect the vehicle's number plates.

 
 
 
 
 
 
  Renewal of the Annual Vehicles Licensing
   
Renewal of the Annual Vehicles Licensing

The registration of the vehicle (licensing) should be renewed before the date of the expiry of registration. And that can be done by either visiting the nearest Post office in your area , or by visiting the vehicles licensing division at the General Directorate of traffic after passing the vehicle inspection.

The following should be provided for the renewal of registration:

1. The vehicle's inspection and registration Form after it has been approved by the Vehicle inspection division.
2.The vehicle's inspection and registration certificate.
3.Insurance certificate covering at least third party and valid for one full year starting from the month of vehicle registration.
4. Presenting the valid CPR. identity card of the owner, incase the vehicle is owned by a company or an establishment then a copy from the commercial registration license.
5.Paying the necessary vehicle registration fees.

After the vehicle is registered , the vehicle registration certificate is issued which must be displayed on the right hand side of the front windscreen of the vehicle.

In case of failure of renewing the annual licensing of the vehicle, a delay fee is charged which is 500 Bahraini Fils per day up to a maximum delay fee sum of BD 20.000 only.

Failing to provide the above conditions the vehicle will be failed in the vehicle inspection.

 

 

Vehicle Ownership Transfer

 

Vehicle Ownership Transfer

The ownership of a vehicle can be transferred upon request by both the seller and the buyer of the vehicle, and both should be present at the vehicle licensing( registration) division at the time of ownership transfer with the following documents:

1. Ownership transfer Form completed and signed by both parties.
2. The vehicle's inspection and registration certificate.
3. Insurance certificate covering at least third party and valid for one full year starting from the month of vehicle registration.
4. Presenting the valid CPR. identity card of the owner, incase the vehicle is owned by a company or an establishment then a copy from the commercial registration license.
5. No claim letter from the car dealer or the concerned bank IF the vehicle was first bought on installments bases
6. Paying the necessary vehicle ownership transfer fees.

After the vehicle is registered , the vehicle registration certificate is issued (which must be displayed on the right hand side of the front windscreen of the vehicle), the new ownership and inspection certificate is issued, in addition to that the owner is issued with a receipt which may be taken to the approved number plate's manufacturer to collect the vehicle's new number plates if the number was changed.

If the owner of the vehicle wishes to export his vehicle for any reason; the application may be submitted to issue the necessary certificate and export number plates at the vehicle licensing division and should provide the following:

1. The vehicle's inspection and registration certificate.
2. Insurance certificate covering at least third party and valid for one month.
3. Presenting the valid CPR. identity card of the owner, incase the vehicle is owned by a company or an establishment then a copy from the commercial registration license.
4. No claim letter from the car dealer or the concerned bank IF the vehicle was first bought on installments bases.
5. Paying the necessary vehicle export fees.
