General Director of the General Directorate of
Traffic Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Subah Al-Khalifa
said that the Arab Traffic Week, which runs from
4-10 May 2009 is an important point to the Arab
region in general, pointing out that the theme
of this year is, "Wrong Overtaking ..uncertain
future "which has been chosen by the Secretariat
of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers
confirm that the Arab world, seeks to achieve
traffic safety, where traffic accidents have
become the tragedies that concerned by all
communities, and that to look forward to find
ways to reduce it among the social,
psychological and economic regions.
Stressing that the theme of this year, aims to raise the awareness
of both the driver and the road user of the
importance to adhere to the right steps of
overtaking, and this comes after the excesses of
road accidents because of the wrong overtaking,
where this phenomenon is concern to everyone,
and said that the event is considered one of the
most important events held by the traffic
directorates in the Arab States where many
programs and activities is held for it
containing several meetings, seminars, lectures,
field visits, interviews and programs that are
broadcasted across the Arab media channels,
asserting that the General Directorate of
Traffic of the Kingdom of Bahrain prepared many
activities during the week, including the Arab
traffic awareness campaigns throughout the whole
week in all the Kingdom governorates including
distribution of awareness leaflets and brochures
as well as traffic activities in the various
schools in the Kingdom.
Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Subah Al-Khalifa confirmed that the
guidance of His Excellency the Minister of
Interior Lt. General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla
Al Khalifa, the General Directorate of Traffic
is taking advantage of this annual occasion, to
involve of all schools in the Kingdom to
disseminate traffic awareness and to create an
aware generation of traffic safety to achieve
the desired traffic safety demanded by everyone,
claiming them to put the Arab Traffic Week this
year slogan in front of them, "Wrong Overtaking
.. uncertain future" and commit to traffic rules
and regulations, asking the Almighty, to make
this country an oasis of security and stability
under the leadership of His Majesty, Sir King
Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, may God preserve him,
and Mr. HH Prime Minister Sheikh Khalifa bin
Salman Al Khalifa, and Crown Prince Mr. General
Secretary Commander of the BDF, Shaikh Salman
bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and to help us all to
reduce traffic accidents that kills innocent
lives of road users.
