The Director of the License Affairs
of the General Directorate of Traffic Lt. Col.
Khaled Rebiya Al Dosari assures the establish of
implementing the decision of prohibit the
transfer of passenger in vehicles that are not
prepared from May, adding that this decision
comes after granting the companies that
transport workers via unlicensed car (six wheel)
the opportunity more than once to correct their
situation.
He said that the decision did not come from a vacuum, but came after an
extensive study of a result of the increasing
number of fatal accidents and serious injuries
caused by the relocation of passenger
transported by vehicles used to transport goods
(six wheel) in the last three years, stressing
that Article 80 of the penalties from traffic
law No. (9) for the year 1979 provides that
"Without prejudice to the measures in this law
the punishment is imprisonment for not more than
six months and a fine of not more than one
hundred dinars, or both for anyone who committed
an act of the following acts:
(Use of the vehicle in other than the purpose
set out)
The Lt. Col. Al Dosari said that
the General Directorate of Traffic met with the
contractors and institutions association that
have a large number of employs has been given a
deadline more than once as it had been agreed
upon the implementation of the resolution since
the beginning of this year and gave them a new
deadline for those who uses this type of
vehicles that are specified to transport goods
to be replaced by buses equipped with passenger
seats (saloon).
Recalled that the Directorate of Training &
Public Relation Affairs has prepared an
extensive campaign to educate business owners of
the risks of using such vehicles in transporting
of passengers and have been designing and
implementing many brochures and leaflets to
increase awareness, as well as lectures in
addition to the placement of advertisements in
daily newspapers, radio and television.
